REBELLION Racing is pleased to announce that the team has chosen Dunlop as their tyre partner for the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Dunlop announced last year that it will return to the top category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2016 and after extensive testing REBELLION Racing was convinced that Dunlop could provide competitive tyres in the LMP1 category. This decision brings back open tyre competition to the LMP1 category for the first time since 2012.
As a main part of the partnership between both parties, REBELLION Racing become Dunlop’s official LMP1 development partner. A dedicated development and testing programme is already in place and additional tests will be conducted in the coming weeks before the start of the season for the FIA WEC Prologue at Paul Ricard HTTT. The objective of the coming tests will be to define Dunlop tyres specifications, tailored to suit the Rebellion R-One LMP1 cars, for the 2016 FIA WEC season.
REBELLION Racing is proud to have reached such an agreement with Dunlop. Working closely with a tyre manufacturer was one of the aims of the Swiss team as they seek to take the challenge to the manufacturer cars. For the last four years, REBELLION Racing has been the top non-manufacturer team in the FIA World Endurance Championship, winning four times the FIA WEC Endurance Trophy for Private LMP1 Teams and winning three times the Privateer class at Le Mans 24 Hours, including finishing in fourth place overall twice.
REBELLION Racing confirmed last week their 2016 racing programme focused on running a pair of upgraded Rebellion R-One AER LMP1 cars in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which includes the prestigious 24 Heures du Mans.
Bart Hayden, Rebellion Racing Team Manager : “We are delighted to welcome Dunlop as tyre partner of REBELLION Racing and are excited about working alongside a company with such a deep motorsport background and rich history at Le Mans. We look forward to establishing a strong and long term relationship with Dunlop. We saw in recent seasons that Dunlop have provided very competitive tyres to the LMP2 cars and we hope that this partnership will further improve the competitiveness of the Rebellion R-One LMP1 cars.”
Xavier Fraipont, Managing Director, Dunlop Motorsport EMEA : “Team Rebellion Racing has established itself as one of the most respected and professional teams in the FIA WEC paddock. We are delighted that they have chosen Dunlop as a technical partner. We are proud that they selected our iconic brand after an intensive comparative tyre test and we will be providing focused technical support to help us drive forward together during the season.”
Within the scope of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Rebels Racing and Watchmaking Team has created a bright brand-new collaboration with RocketByz.
Having been involved in motorsport and most particularly in Endurance for many years, Matmut is proud to become REBELLION Racing’s official partner in the FIA World Endurance Championship until 2020. This partnership marks Matmut's return to the head class.
The FIA WEC Super Season is poised to start and REBELLION Racing has announced its partnership with the iconic British sports car manufacturer TVR. In September 2017, the brand – which is well known for its place in the history books of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – revealed its latest "Griffith" model. It is fitting for the brand to partner and work with REBELLION Racing for its return to Le Mans.
The REBELLION Racing team will engage two Oreca REBELLION R-13s in the World Endurance Championship with balanced and complementary crews. Both cars will be equipped with a Gibson engine and Michelin tires.
